Previous Week:

• Senior Night at Duluth - I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as we honored our outgoing Seniors.  Did you notice our new Mat?  It was the one on the right that we wrestled our matches on.  Thank you Mr. Lane and Mr. Navas.  We had some excellant matches and very vocal fans cheering on the home team.
• Freshman Tournament - I don't have any results.
• North Metro Tournament at Brookwood.  This is one of the premier tournaments of the season with a lot of quality teams coming in to participate.  Friday night is a round robin seeding and then Saturday is a single elimination.  After Friday nights session we had some wrestlers with top 5 seeds but unfortunately we were all out by the second round on Saturday.

This Week:

·        1/25 - Wheeler High School.  We wrestled Mundy Mill, Wheeler and then Central Gwinnett.  

• Mundy Mill - I thought we had won but Coach Chewning corrected me and we lost 36-33.  Wins came from Alex, Ryan, Jullian, Derek, Freddie and Rico.
• Wheeler - a very good team, highlight was Joel's pin in the 1st.
• Central Gwinnett - I am sure we won but don't know the score - we picked up wins from Freddie (Tech), Derek (Pin), Rico (Pin), Vidal (F), Anderson (Pin) and Alex (F).  Deon had his first match back from injury and picked up a pinfall.
• 1/27-8 - Varsity Off. 
• 1/27-8 - JV at Mill Creek for Up the Creek JV Tournament.  It's a long night and day so pack some food and something to read.

Next Week and Beyond:

• 2/1 - Dual at Banks County - CANCELLED
• 2/4 - Region 7AAAAA Traditional at Norcross.  This is it, top 4 in each weight class qualify for the Sectional Tournament.  Our region is very tough, a wrestler who finishes in the top 4 has an excellant chance at Sectionals (top 8) to qualify for State.
• 2/10-11 - Sectional at Tift COunty
• 2/16-18 - State at Gwinnett Arena

Post Season:

• Banquet - the banquet will be on 2/28 at 6:30 PM in the school cafeteria.  Look for details to be forthcoming. 
• Fund Raising - since we were not able to do our fundraising prior to the season we are going to do it post season.  On Saturday 3/2 we will need the wrestlers at the high school to participate in the fund raising drive.  Plan on it and we will have details later.

Duluth wrestled this weekend at the Meadowcreek Mustang Pride Dual Tournament.  The tournament started with Duluth in Pool 'B' and they wrestled Johnson, Hebzibah, MeadowCreek All-Stars, and Lithia Springs.   Pool 'A' was made up of Meadowcreek, Central Gwinnett, Lanier, Clarkston and a house team.  Walton pulled out due to state finals for football.

Duluth vs. Johnson - 48-30.  Winners included Alex, Rico, Vidal, Anderson, Julian, Jospeh, Deon and Derrick.

Duluth vs. Hephzibah -  54-18.  Winners included Anderson, Vidal, Alex, Joseph, Deon, Derrick, and Rodney.

 Duluth vs. Lithia Springs - 42-15.  Winners included Vidal, Julian, Joseph, Deon, Derrick, Rico and Anderson.

 Duluth vs. Meadowcreek All-Stars 49-24.  Winners included Alex, Joseph, Freddie, Derrick, Deon, Rodney, Rico, Anderson and Vidal.

Duluth finished first and crossed over to wrestle the first place team from pool 'A' - Meadowcreek.   Duluth spotted Meadowcreek an 18 point lead due to having to forfeit some weight classes.  Duluth wrestled hard but was unable to overcome the 14 point deficit and lost 44-30.  Winners included:Freddie, Joseph, Deon, Derrick and Alex.
